Endoscopic surgery<\/h3>\n

The main principle of every modern surgical method is the minimalization of trauma in order to reduce the hospitalization time and ensure a speedy recovery.<\/p>\n

The hysteroscopy and laparoscopy are two methods of endoscopic surgery.<\/p>\n

Doctor Ioanna Tsoumpou has successfully completed an MSc in Advanced Endoscopic Surgery at the University of Surrey in the UK<\/strong> and gained considerable experience in the diagnosis and management of endometriosis and in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.<\/p>\n

Laparoscopy<\/h3>\n

Laparoscopy is a method of endoscopic surgery that allows for the control of the abdomen and of the internal organs (uterus, tubes, ovaries etc.)<\/p>\n

The operation is performed under general anaesthesia with a thin optic tube (laparoscope) that is inserted into the abdominal cavity through a small incision near the umbilicus. Additional incisions are done for the insertion of the laparoscopic instruments.<\/p>\n

Nowadays, almost all gynaecological operations are performed laparoscopically. The laparoscopic procedures can be diagnostic or operative.<\/p>\n
